BerksIDA is pleased to announce Jeremy Zaborowski, Executive Director, has been invited to join the Community Advisory Board of the Center for Local Government at Albright College.
“BerksIDA is proud to support this organization and play a bigger part in its future for Berks County,” says Zaborowski.

The Center for Excellence in Local Government (CELG) connects Berks County municipal leaders and their communities, promotes partnership between the public and private sectors, and provides education and best practices for legislation, related skills, relationship building and citizen education. Established at Albright College in 1994, the CELG is supported by numerous municipal and private sponsors. The community advisory board comprised, of government, public, and private sectors, provides oversight, while a separate 20-person local government advisory council supports program guidance.
In cooperation with several local partners, the CELG hosts the PA Land Use Institute, the PA Municipal Planning Education Institute Course in Community Planning, and the Municipal Officials Breakfast. They also facilitate Master Planner and Advanced Master Planner Certifications for local officials, including courses in zoning basics, subdivision and land development review, and community planning. These courses are designed to help local government officials to “enhance their core knowledge and understanding of planning principles, techniques, and best practices they can apply to promote and sustain smart growth communities.” CELG also manages the Water and Wastewater Association, a statewide leader in training and policy around water and wastewater management.
Jeremy, who recently spoke on economic development within Berks County, had this to say: “CELG is unique in the Commonwealth. There is no other institution like it that trains up both professional and volunteer municipal leaders to apply best practices in our communities. The more we can support CELG, the more we can expect to see stronger planning, economic development and municipal governance throughout the County.”
